Smith Premier Portable (1930's)
This beautiful portable from Smith Premier was manufactured in the USA in the early 1930's. It is identical to the Remington Rand Model 1, known by collectors as the 'Noisy Noiseless'. Almost identical in manufacture to the Remington noiseless, which was it's predecessor, this model was designed to make a sound when typing. Many users preferred the "clickety-clack" sound of the typebars hitting the roller. This fine example is in excellent original condition, and has been fully serviced in our workshop. It writes very well with a nice clear standard pica typeface, giving you 10 characters to the inch. A superbly engineered vintage model which has now become very collectable.
Replacement ribbon for this machine is available to rewind onto the original spools. (group 9)
