Olympia Portable (1935)

SKU: OLYMPORT35

This superb quality portable from the famous German maker Olympia was manufactured in 1935 at their Erfurt factory. On the back panel of the machine is a plate showing the original company name of Europa Schreibmaschinen AG. The company changed it's name a year before the Berlin Olympics to Olympia Büromaschinenwerke AG and the plate also shows the head office address as 'Hermann-Göring-Straße 6'. The roads name was changed to this in 1935 during the Nazi regime to honour Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring. The machine has lovely mirror finish enamel paintwork and good original transfers to the casings with chrome key rings. It has been fully serviced with a new ribbon fitted and writes perfectly with a nice clear elite 12 typeface and is supplied with the original carry case and a copy of user instructions. It is very rare to find this model in such good condition and is one of the few examples we have seen.

Replacement ribbons for this machine are available to order on our website. (Group 1 )
